A Designer's Story - E-Commerce Platform
Every Gift Tells a Story!
At a Glance
BTH Commerce is a full-stack e-commerce platform developed for the “Bir Tasarımcı Hikayesi” brand, designed to manage the sale of customizable gift items and post-production operations within a single digital framework. The project consists of a modern Next.js-based storefront, a Medusa v2 backend, custom admin panel extensions, a PostgreSQL database, an event/queue structure supported by Redis, and an AWS ECS deployment infrastructure. The goal was to present wedding, baby, candle, chocolate box, henna, and custom-made gifts through a robust storefront while centralizing the entire process from order to production.
The Challenge
The system required more than just a classic product listing and checkout experience. Products are sold with order-specific customizations such as name, date, message, print text, and photos; some requests, however, proceed through a quote, approval, payment link, and production workflow rather than simply being added to the standard cart. Additionally, payment providers, shipping carriers, design approvals, stock alerts, work orders, invoices, notifications, favorites, reviews, newsletters, and preparations for European sales all needed to be managed securely and sustainably within the same system.
What Was Done
The application was built using a monorepo architecture: Medusa v2 backend, Next.js 15 App Router storefront, Sanity CMS integration, and custom Medusa Admin extensions work together. On the backend, domain modules such as personalization, design approval, quotes, production, invoicing, notifications, newsletters, CRM, wishlists, reviews, font management, and file storage were developed. On the payment side, TRY transactions via Iyzico and PayTR, and EUR transactions via Stripe were supported; webhook verification, idempotency, external redirect callback, and PayTR status-query fallback structures were added. On the storefront side, product, category, collection, cart, checkout, account, favorites, quote form, quote payment, order tracking, and brand story pages were created using a custom design system specific to BTH.
Result
The result is a comprehensive platform that serves as both BTH’s digital store and operational hub. The team can manage the product catalog, personalization data, custom quote requests, design approvals, production work orders, stock and low-stock alerts, shipping options, invoicing processes, customer notifications, subscription campaigns, and payment flows all from a single system. The project offers a scalable e-commerce infrastructure that reduces the burden of manual tracking, makes custom production orders traceable, and can scale from Turkey-focused sales to preparations for the European market.
